Period problems

Immediately:

• if you have any other symptoms you aren’t used to, especially raised body temperature, vaginal discharge, sudden severe belly pain, pain during sex, vaginal bleeding between periods, or vaginal bleeding after sex.

As soon as possible:

• if your period pain is interfering with your usual work or other daily activities;
• if your periods start getting more painful after several years of ‘normally painful’ periods (secondary dysmenorrhoea);
• if you are having unusually heavy periods.
